ASTM A36 is a structural-grade carbon steel commonly used in welded, bolted, or riveted construction for bridges, buildings, and other general structural applications. It must meet a minimum yield strength of 36 KSI (250 MPa) to comply with the A36 standard. A36 plate is widely utilized in a variety of industries and products, including—but not limited to—railroad cars, trucks, agricultural machinery, trailers, construction equipment, as well as building and bridge components.
